How a Hong Kong 3PL deployed a 2,000-tote AirCube™ Goods-to-Person system in a 3.3m-clearance Yau Tong warehouse — commissioned in three weeks.
The operating reality
The project was located inside an existing industrial building in Yau Tong, where the warehouse offered only 3.3 metres of clearance. The operation handled B2B fashion and apparel products and required a 2,000-tote storage configuration.
For 3PL-TOTAL, this was not a greenfield automation exercise. The design had to work with the building that already existed, fit the operational profile, and move from engineering to commissioning on a compressed timeline.
The design response
AirCube™ was selected as the Storage & Picking Automation module for the project. Its rack-supported, tote-based Goods-to-Person architecture was configured around the site’s low-clearance environment and the customer’s B2B fashion workflow.
The physical system handles tote storage and retrieval, while the AirCube operating model is designed to connect task allocation, tote movement and workstation execution. This reflects the wider 3PL-TOTAL approach: start with the warehouse operation and system logic, then engineer the automation around the real environment.
